  NOVEMBER 2020 BULLETIN.

The tail end of 2020 unfortunately faded into nothing as the Opener Slalom and the Christmas Cracker Slalom became the latest victims of the current situation. All MOD land was made unavailable which brought the 2020 BDCC calendar to an early end.

It has never been more apparent how much we, and many other motor clubs, rely on the MOD or their Agents for our sport. Motorsport UK are aware of this and have stated that they have links with the MOD at the highest level and describe them as “keen to engage”.

However with this in mind we must still look for other opportunities as we cannot simply put all the eggs in one basket.

With so many cancellations it has been a slightly frustrating year.

It has been decided that there have been enough events for the Club Championship to be still valid and the tables should be on the website shortly.
One requirement to win an Award has always been that you must marshal at a BDCC event. For this year only this rule has been waived.

The cut off date for queries, questions or (heaven forbid) protests is 30th November.

Unfortunately the Awards evening will not take place. The winners names will be engraved on the awards but no replicas will be issued.

The reduced Motorsport calender has had an effect on income as fewer events means fewer entries. The annual turnover figures reflect this but rest assured that the business side of the Club remains in very good health.

A Committee meeting was squeezed in the day before the current lock down and the 2021 calendar will be released soon.
As Motorsport UK are only releasing permits for what they describe as Elite Events we must look at other ways of providing a competition environment.
Certain events held on public roads do not need a permit and this may be the way forward during these unusual times.

On a very positive note the October Mutley Mayhem Sprint was once again a great success. Many thanks go to Andy Street and Vic Fancy for their organisational skills in providing yet another quality Speed event.

Another plus is that all 2020 Memberships will be be extended to the end of 2021 at no additional charge.

Please keep watch on the website where all the latest news will be posted.

All that remains to say is have a Happy Christmas and New Year, we will be back in 2021 with another full diary.

Thanks for now.
