Twenty five competitors took the start as the last of the summer grass slaloms lived up to the title of Slippery When Wet.
The slightly damp morning gave way to an afternoon of heavy downpours. Unless the set up was just right, the rear wheel drive cars were instantly put at a disadvantage, the only RWD car in the top twelve was Steve Candy in the Escort.
Currently the favoured weapon of choice appears to be the Ford Ka with a total of seven entries and five of these made it into the top ten overall. The first three overall were all Ka’s and with the current values of the Ford shopping car being ridiculously low their combined value add up to very little indeed.
Time once again to make the point about cost effective motorsport!
The results should be up on the website shortly.
The reason for a delayed Bulletin this month was to wait for confirmation that Bovington is available for the Harvest Slalom on 19th September. Unfortunately this confirmation has not come through so unless there is a dramatic change the Harvest will have to be cancelled.
Should the situation alter (extremely unlikely) another super quick organisational challenge will be underway.
Therefore the ever popular Mutley Mayhem Sprint at Clay Pigeon is the next event on 3rd October.
The on line entry system went live on Saturday 28th August and was quickly oversubscribed.
There is a reserves list and if you’re not on the list there’s definitely no chance of an entry.
Aaron Booth is Chief Marshal and will welcome help. He can be contacted on firstname.lastname@example.org.
