DECEMBER 2021 BULLETIN.
A slightly early Bulletin this month for two reasons.
Firstly, a reminder that the closing date for entries for the Christmas Cracker Slalom is Tuesday 30th November. This is Tuesday of next week and Clive Evans is looking forward to your entry!
Secondly, Club night meetings at the Fox and Hounds, Fox Lane, Wimborne will be starting again on Monday 6th December at 9pm. All are most definitely welcome.
Following on with the reminding theme, please don’t forget to renew your BDCC Club membership for 2022.
At £15 for an Adult and an incredible £5 for a Student this still quite exceptional.
In theory a mature Student with a Student Card could qualify for the £5 ??? Not sure if anyone has tested this out yet.
However, in terms of value, the BDCC membership is only equalled by a recent visit to the Cathedral of Welsh football that is known as Rodney Parade, home of the mighty Newport County FC, where we managed to buy 13 pints of beer for just £27 (or 1.8 x BDCC Adult memberships).
Thinking about it, the MSUK RS Clubman Licence is free so that’s even better than a Welsh beer AND you don’t have to go to Rodney Parade……don’t forget to renew your 2022 licence on line as not even an envelope or stamp is required.
We welcome two new members to the Committee. Technically Aaron Booth is a returning member but Hollie Evans is most definitely new and has taken the role of being the Social Media guru. Hollie will be dealing with Facebook, Instagram and possibly something called TikTok, what ever that might be. Social media is the way to appeal to many members and a forward thinking Club needs to be on top of current trends.
Thank you to Hollie and to Aaron.
The Club Championship Awards Evening will be held at the Cobham Sports & Social Club on Saturday 15th January. Simon Poole-Anderson is organising the evening and details will be on the website.
The Opener Slalom at Blandford ran at the start of November. With a good entry and kind weather weather the ever efficient marshals manage to push through all 18 tests and get packed up heading home by 3pm. Yet another excellent day.
Ollie Hoare bagged FTD and the results should be on the website at some point.
The diary is out for next year and includes the long awaited Barney Paul-Edwards Treasure Hunt on Sunday 20th February. This brings us to a total of fourteen competitive events in eleven months made up of two stage rallies, two sprints, three grass slaloms, six tarmac slaloms ……..and the Barney.
The calendar is looking like this.
15th January. Annual Awards Evening at Cobham.
6th February. Valentine Slalom at Blandford.
20th February. Yet to be named Treasure Hunt.
5/6th March. Bovington Stage Rally.
20th March. Clay Pigeon Sprint at Clay Pigeon.
17th April. Slalom at Blandford.
15th May. Maybug Slalom at Bovington.

16th October. Mutley Meyham Sprint at Clay Pigeon.

That’s one busy calendar.
At the exact time of writing this there are a number of BDCC members either competing, marshaling and servicing on the Roger Albert Clark Rally. Good luck to all and look out for the snow up North.
