This main club championship is the victor ludorum championship, which includes all the competitive events run by the club in each year, to produce the overall club champion. Points are scored based on class positions in each event, with bonus points for entering more than one type of event. Everyone has to marshal on at least one event to qualify for the leading positions.
There are also championships for the various types of event we run – car trials, 4×4 trials, 12-car rallies and speed events. The speed championship is currently in abeyance, following the loss of the Manor Farm venue.
There is an additional trophy for the member who marshals on most events – the Committee Cup which is presented at the annual awards function. We are sometimes asked to provide marshals for events run by other clubs – these count for this championship and details of these will be advertised on the website and in the magazine as they arise.
The name ‘victor ludorum’ comes from the Latin; victor = winner and ludorum = of the games (where the old board game Ludo derived its name, might be useful in a pub quiz one day!).
